He completed his law studies at the Universities of Cologne and Paris in 2000. In 2001 he received a Master of Law from the University of Sydney. This was followed by a PhD thesis in German and European competition law at the University of Cologne and traineeships at the European Commission in Brussels and the German Mission to the United Nations in New York.
In 2006 he started working for the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin. Since 2008 he is working at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, now responsible fore-mobility.
